Rev. James R. Carter (Jim) was born on October 30, 1960 and is a native of Monroeville, Alabama. He graduated from Belhaven College in 1983 and immediately began studies at Reformed Theological Seminary (Jackson, MS). While in seminary, Jim served at the Pearl Presbyterian Church as an intern and Director of Youth Ministry. He also joined the Army Reserves as a second lieutenant chaplain candidate to explore what he believed may be a call to military ministry. He graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary and was ordained by the PCA in June of 1988. Rev. Carter answered the call to military ministry and entered the Army Chaplain Corps in Aug 1988.
Rev. Carter holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi; a Master of Divinity Degree and a Master of Arts Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, Mississippi. Chaplain Carter's military education includes the U.S. Army Chaplain Basic and Advanced Courses, Combined Arms Service Staff School (CAS3) and the Command and General Staff College. Until recently Jim served as the Senior Protestant Pastor and Deputy Garrison Chaplain at the United States Army War College Memorial Chapel where he served as the pastor to strategic military leaders and family members. He retired from the Army in June of 2011. He is also working on a Doctorate of Ministry Degree at Erskine Theological Seminary in Due West, South Carolina.
Rev. William C. Lamkin, Minister to Family & Youth
William Curry Lamkin (Bill) has been ministering in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) since 1993.
Bill was born in Montgomery, AL on July 31, 1970; the second child to John and Kitty Lamkin. In 1973, they returned to their childhood home of Pine Apple, AL (pop. 87) so that they could be closer to family and centrally located between the two cities where they taught. The Lamkins were active in the local Baptist Church: his dad served as a deacon and his mother was the organist and pianist. At the age of 11, Bill was baptized along with his older sister. Today, his parents and sister are members of the Bethel Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Oak Hill, AL. His dad serves as an elder and regular Sunday School teacher while his mother plays the piano and organ.
Bill was educated in the public schools of Greenville, AL where he was active in sports, social clubs, and maintained a regular work schedule. In 1988 he graduated from Greenville High School with honors. After graduation, he promptly enrolled at Troy State University in Troy, AL where he graduated in three years with a double-major in Business Administration and Management (with emphasis on small business management). It was at Troy that Bill came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ when a fraternity brother explained God’s grace as he presented “The Bridge” with Romans 6:23. After graduating from Troy in 1991, Bill moved to Jackson, MS for a business opportunity in retail and consumer finance.
Rev. Ian McSevney preaches and teaches from the Bible. A sincere communicator, trained in oratory, Ian speaks from the heart in proclaiming the Living Word of God. As a servant of Jesus Christ Ian depends upon the enabling of the Holy Spirit.
Educated in Scotland, Germany and at Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia, Ian has ministered in Europe, South America, the Caribbean and at home in South Florida. Ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America Ian was an assistant to Dr. D. James Kennedy at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church. He managed the counseling office at CRPC and accompanied Dr. Kennedy as a speaker on four Coral Ridge Ministries cruise tours. He was also Minister of Pastoral Counseling at CRPC.
Dr. Jerry T. Newcombe, Minister to the Community & Culture
Dr. Jerry Newcombe serves as the host and senior producer for The Coral Ridge Hour, the television outreach of the late Dr. D. James Kennedy, the senior pastor of the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church for 48 years, until his death in 2007. Jerry earned his B.A. in history with honors at Tulane University (1978) and his M.A. with honors in communications at Wheaton Graduate School (1983) and his D.Min. (Doctorate of Ministry) from Knox Theological Seminary (2008). Dr. Newcombe wrote his thesis on the importance of America's Christian heritage and how pastors and laypeople can pass on that heritage.
Jerry has produced or co-produced more than 50 one hour television specials with Dr. Kennedy as the host. These programs have aired nationwide and have dealt with such subjects as church and state, creation/evolution, indecency on the airwaves, gambling, the ACLU, Judge Roy Moore (the Ten Commandments Judge), and so on. Perhaps the most widely seen specials Jerry has had the privilege of serving as lead producer was the Christmas 2000 program, WHO IS THIS JESUS, and the Easter 2001 special, WHO IS THIS JESUS: IS HE RISEN? and WHAT IF JESUS HAD NEVER BEEN BORN?, a documentary based on the best-selling book by D. James Kennedy and Jerry Newcombe. Other specials have included: THE DA VINCI DELUSION, DARWIN'S DEADLY LEGACY, CROSS PURPOSES, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, THE ATTACK ON JESUS, and IS JESUS GOD?
John L Wilson is Director of the Music Ministrires at New Presbyterian Church, where he administers a full program Adult, Youth and Children's Choirs and Handbell Ensembles. Before joining the staff of The New Presbyterian Church, he was director of Music Ministries at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church for 12 Years. There he oversaw 15 choirs including the 100 voice Chancel Choir, which appeared weekly on the international television program, The Coral Ridge Hour. He previously served 11 years as Director of Music at Haddonfield United Methodist Church in New Jersey.
Dr. Wilson holds a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago and a Master of Sacred Music Degree from the School of Sacred Music at Union Seminary in New York City, where he studied organ with Alec Wyton and conducting with Abraham Kaplan. He has also studied conducting with Robert Shaw, Joseph Flummerfelt, Rene Clausen, Elaine Brown, and Clarence Martin.
Samuel Metzger, Senior Organist/Music Associate; Media Production
Samuel Metzger was born in Rochester, NY, but from an early age grew up in northern Arizona where his father was a missionary to the Navajo Indians. He began his music studies at the age of 11 and was soon assisting in the mission services. Early studies were at Northern Arizona State University in Flagstaff, where he was accepted into the Preparatory School of Music as a student of Dr. Marilyn Brandon. In high school he studied with Dr. Royce Johnson at the University of Arizona, Tucson.
Mr. Metzger began undergraduate studies in 1990 at Arizona State University where he was a student of Robert Clark. There he studied on a Regents Scholarship and at graduation was named “Most Outstanding Undergraduate in Performance.” In 1995 he was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and began studies with Jon Laukvik at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart, Germany.
Lisa B. Wilson, Co-Director NPC Youth Choir/Associate Organist
Lisa Blyler Wilson is the Co-director and accompanist of NPC Youth Choir, and Associate Organist.
Mrs. Wilson has been teaching music at Westminster Academy since 1998. She currently teaches the Westminster Academy Honor Choir, Westminster Academy Chorus, Womens Ensemble, and three Middle School Choirs. Mrs.Wilson also is the Vocal Director for the school musical. Her choirs consistently receive high honors at the FVA State Competition. Recently they toured Germany and Austria.
Jim Carlson is one of the founders and an original Trustee for NPC. He was a full-time volunteer during NPC’s first three months, and was asked at the start of 2010 to take the job of Executive Administrator. Jim has been in the computer industry since joining IBM in 1959. He cofounded Hospitality Systems International in 1992, and under his leadership as CEO, the company grew to 535 employees and 37 offices around the world, making the Inc. 500 list three years in a row.

Fran was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She studied sociology at Calvin College and business administration at Davenport College. In 1978, she married Bruce and 4 days after the wedding they moved to South Florida where Bruce had a teaching position at Westminster Academy. They have three children, Bobby (married and living in Orlando, Florida), Allison (married and living in D.C.), and Katie (a UCF student).
